Fountain's Abbey 10m
Sunday 9th May 2020
 |
Tough, hilly, and extremely challenging. One of the hardest 10 mile races around but with stunning views over the Vale of York in one direction and Brimham Rocks in the other. Part of the Black Sheep Challenge Series - the free bottle of beer for all finishers is well deserved.

The Location
Nearby Ripon, where we will be based, is one of England's smallest cities, and is known for its historic buildings and the beautiful Cathedral as well as traditional customs such as "setting the watch". This thousand year old ceremony takes place nightly at 9:00 p.m. with the blowing of the horn in the Market Place.

Grass Wood and Ghaistrill's Strid
A gentle introduction to the moors following the Dales Way path from Grassington, through Grass Wood and back past Ghaistrill Strid along the bank of the River Wharfe.
Grassington Moor and Hebden Gill
A Runners World 'Rave Run'. A particularly rewarding trail which reveals many of mans activities in the Dales over the centuries. We pass abandoned dams, mineshafts, and can detour to the Cupola Smelt Mill, built in 1793 which was active for nearly a hundred years before closing.
Burnsall, Thorpe and Linton
Three of Wharfedale's most interesting villages are incorporated in this run which follows the Dales Way, alongside the Wharfe, from Linton to Burnsall, before turning uphill towards the 'hidden village' of Thorpe before returning to Grassington.
