Round the Lakes 20 Mile or 5 Mile Race

Saturday 20th March 2020

This race has become one of the premier pre-London events, attracting competitors from all over England and Wales. Despite a large prize field, many competitors say they run it for the scenery and the cheerful ambience the event inspires.

By staging the race on Saturday rather than a Sunday you can make a genuine weekend of it - leaving Sunday free for a gentle warm down run or for exploring the local area.

The Location

Rhayader lies at the crossroads of Wales: between the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia, halfway from Hereford to Aberystwyth. Often described as the 'Lakeland of Wales' this is a forgotten wilderness of mountains, lakes and moors - a spectacular contrast. The result is a paradise for those lucky enough to discover the secret.

The Hotel

Ideally situated at the entrance to the Elan Valley, the Elan Valley Hotel was originally a Victorian Fishing Lodge. It has a very easy going and relaxed atmosphere with a games room and a bar which features a variety of real ales and organic beers.
