Keswick Half Marathon

Sunday 2nd May 2020

Keswick Hills

Regularly attracting over 500 runners from all over the UK, this well supported Lakeland race offers a relatively tough but extremely attractive course with many stunning views.

Organised by the local rugby club, there's plenty of opportunity for a post-race beer or two. A great opportunity to combine a few days in the northern Lakes with one of its most popular races.

The Location

We base ourselves for the weekend in Keswick, lying at the northern end of Derwentwater and the entrance to the Borrowdale valley. Keswick has a wide range of attractions for the visitor and the surrounding fells, of course, offer opportunities for walking, climbing or just admiring some of Britain's most beautiful landscape.

Typical RunAway training runs

Two classic routes offer an authentic introduction to running in the Lake District.

Latrigg

Keswick's own fell, Latrigg's steep gradients and close proximity to the town make it an imposing presence. An ideal introduction to fell running, it rewards runners with views from the top - not just of Keswick below, but of Borrowdale, Helvellyn and, Skiddaw.

Coniston 14

Around Derwentwater

In contrast, our run around Derwentwater, combines some of the most beautiful views in England with barely perceptible climbs (for most of the route), as it hugs the Derwentwater shoreline for much of the way.
